One Family, One Terroir, One Century of Passion

1923 — The Origins

It all began in 1923 when Albert-Georges Guimberteau acquired a property in Baudron: 4 hectares of vines, an ox, and a horse. Alongside his father-in-law Frédéric Beychade, he laid the foundations for what would become Château Franc Baudron. The property, traversed by 4 natural springs, was already an exceptional place.

1936 — The Handover

Nelson Guimberteau joined the estate at 15 years old. Under his leadership, the domain expanded to 8 hectares of vines, supplemented by cattle breeding, agricultural land, and forests. In 1949, he married Laure Berteau, the daughter of farmers, and together they further rooted the family in this Bordeaux terroir.

1952 — Viticulture Above All

Michel Guimberteau was born that year and grew up among the vine rows. Primarily passionate about wine, he gradually refocused the estate on viticulture. With his wife Bernadette Milhard, the daughter of winemakers from Petit-Palais, they tripled the estate's area to reach 32 hectares in AOC Montagne-Saint-Émilion and 10 hectares in AOC Bordeaux.

1999 — The Next Generation

Vincent Guimberteau joined the family estate, perpetuating the heritage with the same exacting standards as his ancestors.

2005-2010 — Environmental Commitment

In 2005, the estate obtained Reasoned Agriculture certification, the first step in a process to reduce chemical inputs. In 2010, it converted to Organic Agriculture: respecting living things, natural cycles, biodiversity, and soils. A choice of conviction, not a trend.

2010 — A New Lease of Life

Sophie Guimberteau and her partner Charles Foray joined the château after 5 years in the wine world in Alsace — Sophie in sales and communication at Cave du Vieil Armand, Charles as vineyard manager at the prestigious Domaine Marcel Deiss, in biodynamics. Together, they bring a modern and demanding vision to Château Franc Baudron, faithful to the family spirit that has animated this estate for over a century.
